At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

We are a diverse team of collaborators, doers, and problem- solvers who are relentlessly committed to a culture of safety. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to Earth's orbit and beyond. Engineered with a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is building the road to space.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will own the design, development, and verification of Blue Origin's next generation of launch vehicle networks. Demonstrating your familiarity with commercial networking equipment and standards and your proficiency in system level network integration, you will lead the design, verification, and integration of networks critical for human space flight.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and verification of network requirements; perform network performance modeling, simulation, and measurement.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team in designing, integrating, and testing launch vehicle networks.
  • Direct network unit production and qualification.
  • Serve as the technical focus for the network development and integration with systems engineering, mission operations, and flight operations teams.

Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree or higher in an applicable field (electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, etc.)
  • 7+ years of experience in design, development, test and operation of networking systems
  • Intimate familiarity with layer 2 and 3 switching/routing hardware and software (including Ethernet and IP)
  • Hands-on experience and proficiency in networking hardware and software solving, including developing network integration tests and working with network test equipment
  • Extensive Python programming and scripting experience
  • Demonstrated successful execution of projects to cost and schedule targets
  • Expert in network tapping/telemetry, packet capture, and analysis methods
  • High level of attention to detail and task ownership
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with network simulation software, network testing hardware (e.g. traffic generators/analyzers) and real time operating systems
  • Deep understanding of multicast networking and IGMP.
  • Experience working with ASICS and FPGAs over standard detailed interfaces
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical requirements and analyses
  • Experience with developing and debugging Python network integration and test programs
