THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE POSITION
Indefinite appointment cannot exceed 5 years. Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered.The primary purpose of the IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK), GS-2210-11, is to serve as a base systems administrator to monitor the Local and Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN), including the planning, analysis, acquisition, design, development, implementation, quality assurance, configuration, installation, integration, maintenance testing, operational integrity, and/or management of networked systems for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats.

Compatible Military Assignment and Grade are required. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position.

AREA I=Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment
AREA II=Current California National Guard members
AREA III=Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty.(Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Air Force CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment)

This position conducts information assurance functions. Incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification. Certification must be obtained within 6 months. Requirements are outlined in DoD Instruction 8570.01-m.QualificationsGeneral Experience: Possess experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles to understand the stages required to automate a work process; Experience gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK), GS-2210-11: Musthave at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-11, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: using techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization; Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment; Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.

EducationSubstitution of Education for Specialized Experience: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work required.
