We are currently seeking a Data Scientist as part of our Enterprise Retail Banking Products & Payments function. The role reports to the Senior Manager for Consumer and Small Business Deposit Product Management. This team is responsible for products that support 1.4 million customers across 11 states in the Western U.S. The Deposits Product Team works on strategic initiatives that support customer growth, financial performance, customer experience, and continuous improvement. We develop insights that support the bank's retail and product management strategy.

The Data Scientist role summary:
- Responsible for designing and building analytical models, prototyping, performing statistical analyses, providing diagnostic, descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics.
- Determines opportunities and needs around the use of machine and deep learning for help in prescriptive and predictive analytics, automation and model training.
- Responsible for analytics projects, understanding the business and data needs, discovering, cleaning, and transforming data as needed.
- Responsible for modeling complex business problems, discovering business insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques.
- Create and support statistical models to analyze, evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomes and risk.
- Analyze large amounts of data, using advanced statistical techniques and mathematical analyses, with statistical rigor.
- Responsible for completing analysis in one or more of the following areas: customer segmentation and behavioral analysis. customer adoption and market penetration, product profitability and forecasting.
- Conduct relevant research and create reports as needed.
- Present research to senior bank leaders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Requires a Bachelors in Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting, Economics, Finance or other technical disciplines.
- 6+ yrs experience in statistical modeling, statistics, analytics, regression analysis, or other directly related experience.
- A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of statistical modeling, analytics, mathematical statistics, computer science and other related applications.
- Strong orientation to quantitative, data-driven analysis using tools such as R, Python, and SQL. Experience with PowerBI is a plus.
- Strong command-line proficiency, including navigating Linux environments and working remotely on virtual machines.
- Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries against distributed data-lake systems (Hive or similar). Experience with Databricks is a plus.
- Advanced understanding of the business and data needs.
- Ability to analyze large data sets from multiple data sources.
- Excellent problem solving, analysis and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation creation tools, etc.
