Associate Systems Engineer - Integration, Verification & Validation

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer - Integration, Verification & Validation to join the team in Huntsville, AL. The selected candidate will support the Space Launch System (SLS) program providing a critical heavy-lift capability, powering people and cargo to our moon and beyond into deep space to enable diverse exploration, science and security missions.

As a member of the Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) team, the individual in this role will lead efforts in the development and maintenance of external interface requirements for the SLS vehicle. Effective coordination and collaboration with other Boeing team members and NASA customers are critical skills that involves technical resolution, analysis, and understanding to translate requirements into system, hardware, and software designs and specifications. This position requires an individual with excellent communication and relationship-building skills, is comfortable interacting with diverse cultures, and has a passion for space exploration. As system engineers, the goal is to apply common products, processes and tools across subsystems in pursuit of programmatic objectives.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements, integration and verification management processes and tools
  • Leads and coordinates across multiple disciplines, including suppliers and customers internally and externally, to resolve systems specifications using strong communication skills
  • Evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
  • Exercises strong technical understanding to resolve cross-functional technical issues and represent the team
  • Participates in the creation of the requirements and model-based system engineering infrastructures (e.g., DOORS, CAMEO) and leads efforts to allocate and derive performance and functional requirements trace their flow down to lower levels
  • Forecasts and tracks requirement compliance activities to verify compliance and satisfy reporting obligations with the customer
  • May participate in the generation of responses to Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) from the customer
  • Participates in the planning and execution of space system engineering events (e.g., Segment Requirement Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews and Critical Design Reviews) and applies Boeing command media to ensure they satisfy all entrance/exit criteria.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 1-3 years' experience with systems engineering requirement development and allocation.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience interpreting subsystem requirements for Validation & Verification
  • Experience with Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) for requirements management.
  • Work with customers, program office, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Knowledge and familiarity with computer-aided (CAD) design software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, etc.)
  • MS365, Power BI.
