Network Services Manager
Full-Time 12 months
Ensures the stability, integrity, security and efficient operation of the district's network and server infrastructure, and other enterprise technology components. Provides senior technical leadership on all aspects of the district's networks, servers, communications, and other non-network equipment; oversees a team of enterprise network engineers and network coordinator, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
Duties:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervise Enterprise Network Engineers and Network Coordinator. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree or equivalent, five to seven years demonstrated work experience in an enterprise network environment, encompassing installation, design, management and operations. Extensive background with five to seven years of work experience leading large projects in an enterprise network environment. Five to seven years network (wired/wireless), server, and storage management experience with multiple local area networks (LANs) and wide area network (WAN) in an enterprise environment. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement solutions in a complex environment. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups, departments, and stakeholders fostering strong professional relationships. Demonstrated excellent collaboration skills. Ability to supervise a diverse team of technology professionals. Ability to manage large complex projects. Demonstrated strong, positive customer service skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative management style with both technical and non-technical teams. Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills. Extensive background and work experience troubleshooting complex, elevated technology and network problems in a methodical and logical manner. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evluate options and implement solutions. Must be able to lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions. Must be physically working in the buildings/on site.
Planning, analysis, and design of Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Network (WAN), Wireless Local Area Network (WLANs), Virtual Local Area Network (VLANs), and server infrastructure in an enterprise environment. Demonstrated experience in areas below are preferred:
Preferred Qualifications: Ten years of progressive experience in network architecture, engineering, and operations with proven experience managing large-scale, complex enterprise network environments and cloud platforms. Exceptional working knowledge of network security best practices and technologies. Ability to lead and mentor a technical team, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and customer service. Excellent communication skills with the ability to navigate complex, high-pressure situations to achieve positive outcomes.

Duties:
- Lead and manage a team of enterprise network engineers and network coordinator in the management and support the district's network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, wireless networks, and VoIP systems.
- Supervise Enterprise Network Engineers and the Network Coordinator (Voice/Phone) within the Network Services department, assigning and coordinating work tasks while overseeing the resolution of critical technical and procedural issues.
- Plan, organize, coordinate, maintain, and assure effective network support to optimize the performance, reliability, and smooth operation of the district's network and voice infrastructure and systems.
- Provides leadership in development and maintenance of district enterprise technology solutions with a critical focus on technology security.
- Monitors and improves infrastructure and operational performance and manages service capacity from an infrastructure and people perspective.
- Provides advanced technical support, training, and expertise to departments and stakeholders, ensuring the effective use and operation of network services.
- Collaborate with teams to identify the needs, implement solutions, and enhance user capabilities through training and knowledge sharing. Ensures cross-training of staff and training as needed and/or ensures staff has access to training.
- Collaborates with teams to assess needs and develop processes, procedures, and standards for the management, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise-wide network, data, and voice infrastructure.
- Ensure the integrity and recoverability of critical systems through comprehensive backup and disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Manages the workflow management and optimization within the district's technology ticketing system (Incident IQ) across all departments including Network Services, enhancing efficiency and streamlining support processes.
- Collaborate with the network team and other security stakeholders to define security requirements, policies, and procedures and implement effective security solutions.
- Assists other departments as needed in a confidential manner with investigations into inappropriate use of network resources.
- Serve as a district resource in planning and administering large-scale technology project implementations.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure software and hardware compatibility across the district, adhering to established standards and best practices.
- Oversee the Network Services team in providing training and professional development for technology paraprofessionals, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively support district technology initiatives.
- Facilitate meetings to further the goals of the Network Services department for timely, effective, and efficient deployments and ongoing maintenance of network support services.
- Assist the Executive Director of Technology in setting technical and strategic goals by analyzing network infrastructure, security, connectivity, and other related technology needs to improve efficiency and support operations.
- Work with the Executive Director of Technology to develop and manage the annual budget for Network Services.
- Assist the Executive Director of Technology with identifying, selecting, and coordinating vendor and consultant services. Build and maintain positive working relationships with key vendors.
