Associate SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test)

Location: Okemos, MI (Remote for now; hybrid later must be local)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Interview: Phone + Video

About the Role

We re looking for an Associate SDET who s eager to grow their automation skills in a collaborative Agile environment. You ll help design, execute, and maintain automated and manual test cases to validate complex applications working closely with senior engineers to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and enhance test automation scripts using Playwright, TypeScript, and Java for API and UI testing.
  • Collaborate with SDETs and developers to understand system requirements and test impacts.
  • Create and maintain clear, reusable test cases and test data.
  • Develop and execute automated API tests (REST/SOAP).
  • Support manual testing, including exploratory testing and feature validation.
  • Identify, document, and track bugs/issues through resolution.
  • Write and maintain SQL queries to extract and validate test data.
  • Participate in code and test case reviews.
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, tests, and defects.
  • Contribute to test best practices, code quality, and continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience or strong knowledge of Playwright, Java, and API testing.
  • Understanding of manual testing methodologies and processes.
  • Basic programming experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, or Java.
  • Exposure to test automation frameworks and Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.

Nice to Have

  • Experience writing SQL queries for data validation.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and testing best practices.
  • Understanding of software quality principles and version control systems (e.g., Git).
