Role Summary
We re looking for a Software Engineer IV with strong PostgreSQL and Ruby on Rails expertise to design and build high-performing data applications and APIs for Fifth Third Bank s Commercial Payments team. You ll collaborate with product managers, architects, and developers to deliver scalable, reliable backend systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy back-end applications using Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL
- Build and optimize APIs for scalability and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features
- Maintain clean, well-documented, and testable code
- Troubleshoot bottlenecks, ensure performance, and support production releases
- Participate in architecture discussions and code reviews
Required Skills
- 8+ years in software development and database engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL
- Deep understanding of API design, database optimization, and performance tuning
- Experience with RESTful APIs, WebSockets, and Git
- Solid understanding of software development principles and Agile practices
Nice to Have
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Familiarity with GraphQL and modern API design
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools
- Experience with testing frameworks and security best practices
