Job Details

A financial client is looking for a fully remote Site Reliability Engineer to add to their growing team. The company itself has been in the process of building out a new cloud platform and are embracing a cloud first mindset moving forward. They are looking for a true problem solver to join the SRE team which is somewhat in its infancy but is on a trajectory to take ownership of a wide range of observability within the infrastructure/platform. This team isn't owning the day-to-day monitoring aspects of observability, but more so tasked to discover the gaps in observability. For instance, some of their shared services (Mulesoft, Collibra, Confluent, Kafka, APIC) don't have as much visibility as they should so this team would do things like writing tools that send metrics to Splunk or writing utilities that provide data metrics for some of these services.

The biggest priority for this role is to be proficient with IaC, configuration management, Linux, and cloud experience. The cloud platform is being built in Google Cloud Platform although experience in other clouds is acceptable. The last piece of this role that would be a big plus is someone that has experience in Kafka or other message broker tools. They need some extra support on that for this team so it would be ideal to get a good DevOps person in with some exposure to that and willingness to potentially dive in and take some ownership of the Kafka side of things. You will, by no means, just become the Kafka person but its an opportunity to expand some skills while leveraging your current experience.
