Senior Developer, Service Now
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer who has the ability to act as a mentor & provide solutions to the Dev team as well as perform hands on development (including advanced scripting). This person preferably has some experience developing Now Assist skills, and has experience as a developer (or at least skillset) outside of ServiceNow. Would like for them to have some experience with the HR modules as well.
Scope of work:
The Senior ServiceNow Developer will serve as a technical leader and mentor within the development team, providing hands-on development, advanced scripting, and architectural guidance. This role will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable solutions across multiple ServiceNow modules, with a focus on HR Service Delivery and Now Assist capabilities. The developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features, support platform upgrades, and ensure adherence to best practices. The ideal candidate will also contribute to the evolution of the platform by mentoring junior developers, conducting code reviews, and driving innovation through automation and AI-powered enhancements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
- Design and Development: Create, test, and maintain software applications, ensuring they are scalable, robust, and efficient.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to deliver high-quality products.
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that adheres to industry standards and best practices.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve software defects and performance issues in a timely manner.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve development processes and software quality.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
- Experience: Proven experience in software development, with a strong portfolio of successful projects. Experience with Agile methodologies is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in a programming language JavaScript. Familiarity with ServiceNow glide API.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with a collaborative and positive attitude.
Skills (Must have):
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience
- Advanced scripting skills in JavaScript and GlideScript
- Experience mentoring junior developers and conducting code reviews
- Strong problem-solving and solution design capabilities
- Proven ability to lead technical discussions and provide architectural guidance
- Familiarity with ServiceNow s Integration Hub and Flow Designer
- Experience with at least 5 of the following ServiceNow areas: ITSM, HR, Now Assist, Source to Pay Operations, Integrations, Talent Development, Performance Analytics, Data Privacy, Mobile Apps, HAM Pro, SAM Pro, APM, Document Intelligence, Process Mining, Employee Service Center
- ServiceNow certifications: CSA, CAD, or CIS
- Working knowledge of AngularJS, HTML, and REST APIs
Skills (Nice to have):
- Experience developing Now Assist skills (GenAI/AI Search/AI Skill Builder)
- Development experience outside of ServiceNow (e.g., full-stack, cloud-native apps, or enterprise platforms)
- ITIL Foundations+ certification
- Exposure to AJAX, JSON, and CSS
