Electrical Controls Engineers at SDC are collaborative, detail-oriented individuals that are responsible for developing and programming complete solutions for automated equipment according to customer and internal specifications. We are looking to add individuals with PLC, HMI, Robotics and Vision programming and machine design experience.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and develop innovative and advanced software and machine controls programs, including:

- Electrical and control system design

- PLC and HMI programming

- Robotic programming

- Industrial machine vision systems

- Commissioning and troubleshooting of controls systems and programming

  • Evaluate and specify hardware and software components such as panel components, power distribution systems, PLCs, motion controllers, sensors, robotics, and vision systems to meet project requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine controls hardware and software issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage assigned projects to maintain on-time and on-budget machine deliveries.
  • Assist Mechanical Engineering team with development and cross-over automation technologies, including robotics, pneumatics, servo motion systems and vision systems.
  • Support machine building process from assembly, de-bug and acceptance testing, potential on-site customer installations, start-up support, and customer training.
  • Contribute to department initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, quality, and achieving shared goals.
Requirements:

What We're Looking For:

Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechatronics engineering related field required.

5+ years' electrical engineering experience.

Proficiency in control system design, PLC/HMI programming, servo control, and vision systems.

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Eplan, robotic programming a plus.
  • Preferred Platforms:
    • PLC & Controls: Allen-Bradley (preferred); Siemens, Omron, and Schneider experience a plus.
    • Robotics: Fanuc (preferred); Epson, Yaskawa, and Mecademic experience a plus.
    • Software & Databases: Experience with Ignition, SQL databases, .NET, or C# programming is a plus.
    • Experience programming and/or using AI agents to create schematics is a plus.
  • Strong decision making, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with a project team.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to support projects, up to 10%.
