We are seeking a hands-on Director, Technology (Data Architect) to lead critical data architecture initiatives while managing a small, high-performing team. This role is ideal for a technical leader who thrives in problem-solving, client-facing work, and building scalable, modern data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Engineering

  • Design, develop, and optimize data models, pipelines, and integrations using Postgres, Apache, and related technologies.
  • Implement and maintain scalable ETL/ELT workflows; experience with Airflow is ideal.
  • Build and maintain APIs to support data access and integration.

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of 3 4 data engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and career development.
  • Create a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on problem-solving and delivery.

Client Engagement

  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their business needs and translating them into effective technical solutions.
  • Lead client discussions, present technical concepts in an approachable way, and manage stakeholder expectations.

Problem Solving & Innovation

  • Serve as a hands-on technical leader who can dive into code, troubleshoot issues, and design creative solutions.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging tools and technologies to improve system architecture and performance.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture, engineering, or related technical roles.
  • Strong experience with Postgres, Apache, and Python.
  • Exposure to Airflow (or willingness to learn quickly).
  • Experience building and managing APIs preferred.
  • Proven people management experience (leading 3 4 engineers).
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills; able to lead conversations with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance hands-on technical work and leadership responsibilities.
