DBA LUW/Cloud DBA

Description:

Seeking a DBA to support DB2 LUW and Cloud.

What will this person be working on:

• Database Administration: Install, configure, and upgrade database software for DB2 LUW and Cloud Database Platforms.
• Monitor and maintain database health, performance, and security. Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
• Performance Tuning: Analyze and optimize SQL queries and database performance. Identify and resolve bottlenecks in database systems. Implement indexing and tuning strategies and partitioning for performance gains.
• Security & Compliance: Manage user access and roles. Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies. Perform audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts for monitoring, maintenance, and automation tasks. Use tools like shell scripting, Python, or Perl for automation.
• Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and business analysts to understand new requirements and recommend high level direction and approach. Provide support for development, testing, and production environments.
• Support: Resolve platform related issues. Participate in Incident Response. Coordinate with Vendors for Product related issues, Patches and Bug Fixes.
• Future Technologies: Assist in migrating On-Prem Databases to the cloud and integrating data from various sources into Cloud-based systems.
• On-call Support - candidates must be OK with after-hours support. The resource will be the dedicated DBA for level 2 & 3 issues for specific systems and will be the point of contact with the offshore team that handles the level 1 issues.
• 80% of the role will be supporting legacy / existing systems/databases in DB2 LUW. 20% will be supporting databases in Cloud (AWS) platforms

Required Experience:

• 10+ years experience as a DB2 LUW DBA in enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of DB2 LUW architecture, utilities, and tools. Experience with HADR, TSA, QREP and other high availability solutions.
• 5+ years experience with Cloud Concepts, AWS (preferred) and other Cloud Technologies, IaaS and PaaS, Cloud Database Platforms (RDS PostgreSQL, AWS DynamoDB, DocumentDB, MongoDB, Neo4j, Neptune etc.).
• 5+ years experience working with large database / large scale projects.
• Proficiency with performance tuning and query optimization.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting.
• Experience with monitoring tools.
