Job Title: IT Project Manager I
Location: Denver, CO / Remote
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This position manages IT projects of varying complexity within the Digital Next space, ensuring they are executed efficiently and in alignment with departmental goals. A Project Manager in this role is a key driver of project success, focusing on planning, execution, and team coordination. They operate within an Agile framework to facilitate the delivery of value, ensure clear communication among stakeholders, and support the project team in achieving its objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Execution & Delivery
- Manages the planning, scheduling, and tracking of project deliverables, goals, and milestones to ensure timely completion.
- Works with stakeholders to define project scope and manages the change control process with oversight from senior leadership.
- Applies Agile methodologies to manage the project backlog, facilitate sprint ceremonies, and guide iterative development cycles.
Team & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Provides day-to-day coordination for project teams, helping to remove impediments and foster a collaborative and productive environment.
- Executes the project communication plan, ensuring stakeholders are consistently informed of progress, risks, and milestones.
- Facilitates project meetings, workshops, and retrospectives to drive alignment and capture lessons learned.
Financial & Risk Management
- Contributes to the development of the project budget and actively tracks project financials, including actuals, forecasts, and variances.
- Identifies, documents, and monitors project risks and dependencies, working with teams to develop and implement mitigation and contingency planning
- Contributes to continuous improvement efforts within the PMO by analyzing project results and sharing key learnings.
Project Execution
- Takes ownership of project outcomes from initiation to closure, holding themselves accountable for both successes and failures.
- Leads, plans, schedules, tracks, and manages all project deliverables, goals, and milestones.
- Analyzes results, identifying lessons learned and applying them to drive continuous improvement in future projects.
- Manages project scope and the change control process as appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor s degree in a related area required or a combination of education and progressively responsible work experience may be substituted.
- Minimum of five (5) years IT experience required, including a minimum of five (3) years experience managing IT projects.
- Demonstrated experience translating business strategies into actionable project plans.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) required.
- Experience with projects involving cloud technologies required.
- Demonstrated experience in resource management and change management techniques required.
- Computer skills and proficiency in MS Project required; intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or completion of another recognized project management certification.
- Change management or Lean Six Sigma certifications.
- Experience with project portfolio management (PPM) tools (e.g., Targetprocess, Clarity, Smartsheet, Jira, Microsoft Project Online).
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
- Experience with Continuous Discovery and Delivery frameworks.
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance, etc.).
