Senior Substation Electrical Engineer
Job Summary

POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is seeking a senior-level electrical engineer to provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) support for our Central Region Power Delivery Substation Departments based in our Minneapolis office located in Burnsville, Minnesota. This role offers flexibility with remote, hybrid, or in-office work arrangements; however, candidates must reside within a commutable distance of the office.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations
    • One-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
  • Perform QA/QC for substation project deliverables to clients across multiple offices
  • Ensure POWER quality procedures are followed and that the team is resourced in an optimal manner
  • Mentor less experienced staff in substation project execution
  • Occasional travel will be required
Required Education/Experience
  • Ability to function as a Senior Substation Electrical Engineer based in our Minneapolis, Minnesota office and specializing in QA/QC
  • BSEE (BS in Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS in Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option
  • Experience in 15kV through 345kV physical and electrical substation design, and IEEE/ANSI standards
  • Experience in managing 5 or more people on a project team
  • Experience filling the role of project engineer for several projects occurring concurrently
  • Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
  • Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
Desired Education/Experience
  • 10 years experience in utility substation design is preferred
  • Professional Engineering license (PE)
  • Experience with - and established positive relationships with - Central region clients
  • Experience in 345kV through 500 kV substation design

Base Salary Range: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year

The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike.
