RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Nashville, TN that is seeking a HPUX Administrator.
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced HP-UX System Administrator with a strong background in Perl scripting, job scheduling using Slurm and Cron, and familiarity with ProgressDB. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the stability, performance, and security of our HP-UX environment while leveraging automation and scripting for efficient system management. The primary focus of this role is on maintenance activities, with a smaller component dedicated to development tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
* Administer and maintain HP-UX operating systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
* Develop and maintain automation scripts using Perl to streamline system operations
* Manage and monitor job scheduling through Slurm and Cron, ensuring timely execution of critical processes
* Perform routine system maintenance, patching, and upgrades to maintain security and compliance
* Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, providing root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures
* Collaborate with application teams to support ProgressDB environments and related integrations
* Document system configurations, processes, and procedures for operational consistency
* Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and disaster recovery exercises
REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years of experience as an HP-UX System Administrator or similar role
* Demonstrated experience managing and provisioning attached storage using Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs), including configuration, mapping, and performance optimization in enterprise storage environments
* Strong proficiency in Perl scripting for automation and system management
* Hands-on experience with Slurm and Cron job scheduling tools
* Familiarity with ProgressDB administration and troubleshooting
* Solid understanding of system security, performance optimization, and backup strategies
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with other Unix/Linux environments
* Knowledge of shell scripting and additional programming languages
* Exposure to high-availability and clustering solutions
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
