Electrical AutoCAD Designer with Top Mass Media & Entertainment Company!
Electrical AutoCAD Designer
Location: Orlando, FL (on-site 5 days per week)
Duration: 12 months +
Rate: up to $55/HR
Summary: Ride Controls designers prepare and maintain drawings for the Ride Control Systems Engineering group. They must be skilled in CAD and also have knowledge and experience with all types of electrical components and manufacturing processes. They also help to develop and maintain the CAD and drafting standards. They must work closely with engineers in resolving detailed design issues. For work in the Ride group, they must have a breadth of knowledge and be a generalist who works well on any type of mechanical and/or electrical devices to accommodate the wide variety of tasks they may encounter.
-Interpret electrical control system design requirements and build original layouts, iterative assembly and detail drawings, schematics, artwork, isometrics, and illustrations.
-Review, analyze, and integrate the technical requirements, technical accuracy, and design approach in conjunction with team engineers.
-Craft electro-mechanical packaging of industrial control panels and enclosures based on high-level concepts from engineers.
-Select components from preferred manufacturers and prepare design detail drawings and schematics for industrial control panels using AutoCAD.
-Ensure compliance with UL508a and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements, and dimension and tolerance practices per ANSI Y14.5.
-Present and review designs with controls and mechanical engineers and attend meetings as needed.
-Model equipment locations in a ride facility design using Revit.
-Deliver production assembly drawings, detail drawings, bills of material, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment lists.
-Prepare and release fully developed drawings into internal data management systems.
-Participate in reviewing engineering drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and other subject areas, for consistency to drafting standards.
-Design multi-layer PCB assemblies based on engineering schematics.
Basic Qualifications:
-At least 2 years of experience with design of control systems for electromechanical systems
Sophisticated knowledge of industrial control panel design and components such as PLCs, VFDs, control switches/buttons, enclosures, relays, power supplies, connectors, terminal blocks
-Knowledge of electrical and mechanical design standards and codes, including UL508a, NEC, and ANSI Y14.5
-Proficient in developing electrical equipment assemblies, schematics, one-line diagrams, and equipment schedules
-Advanced CAD skills using AutoCAD in 2D
-Well-adapted in model and drawing revision control
-Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel
-Able to prioritize multiple tasks and deliver work in a timely manner
-Works well on a team
-Strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
-Strong 3D CAD skills for integrating ride control equipment into facility and mechanical CAD packages, and for visualization by other subject area teams
-Advanced CAD skills using AutoCAD, Solidworks, Revit, and Navisworks
-Good knowledge of manufacturing processes including printed circuit board design and fabrication
-Familiarity with industrial operational technology networking equipment and structured cabling design
-Knowledge of Rockwell and/or Beckhoff automation systems components
-Field experience with control system wiring, startup, and testing
-Knowledge of single and multi-layer Printed Circuit Boards, their related schematics, assemblies, and fabrication
-Ability to design multi-layer PCB assemblies based on engineering schematics
-Ability to prepare, update and/or revise SolidWorks and EPLAN drawings and models
-Proficient in Microsoft Office software, and Adobe tool suite
Required Education: Associate Degree in Electronics or Engineering Design
Preferred Qualifications: Formal training in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or Revit
