Job Title: Microsoft 365 Information Security Specialist

Overview
Our client is seeking highly skilled Microsoft 365 Information Security Specialists to join their team on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining information security measures to safeguard sensitive data across Microsoft 365 collaboration environments. You will play a critical role in mitigating internal and external risks, ensuring compliance, and protecting data leveraged by AI services.
Key Responsibilities
- Information Protection: Implement strategies to safeguard sensitive data within Microsoft 365.
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP): Develop and enforce policies to prevent data leakage and unauthorized sharing.
- Data Retention: Establish and manage retention policies for compliance and regulatory needs.
- Insider Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks from internal threats.
- Information Security Alerts: Monitor, investigate, and respond to security alerts and incidents.
- Data Classification: Design and implement a classification and labeling strategy for sensitive information.
- Identity & Access Management (IAM): Secure collaboration services through IAM strategies.
- Data Security Posture Management: Continuously evaluate and improve Microsoft 365 data security.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with governance, security teams, workload administrators, and business owners to align security solutions with organizational policies.
- Incident Response: Participate in incident response processes to mitigate risks.
- Entra ID Administration: Manage user identities, access, and security policies.
- Exchange Administration: Maintain Exchange Online and on-premises infrastructure for email continuity and compliance.
- License Management: Optimize software licensing and ensure compliance.
- Azure Information Protection: Apply encryption, labeling, and classification policies.
- Data-at-Rest Encryption: Manage encryption solutions, including Thales HSMs.
- Service Onboarding: Integrate new services into the Microsoft 365 environment.
- Entra ID Service Principals & Managed Identities: Administer secure configurations and automated workflows.
- Federation Administration: Manage Entra ID federation for seamless SSO.
- Business Continuity: Develop and test disaster recovery plans.
- Training & Support: Provide user and administrator training on Microsoft 365 security.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate security policies, procedures, and incident records.
Qualifications
- 5 7 years managing and securing Microsoft 365 environments.
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Information Systems or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Advanced knowledge of:
- Microsoft Purview
- Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Exchange Online & Exchange On-Premises
- SharePoint Online
- Expertise in Azure Information Protection and data-at-rest encryption.
- Strong skills in security, compliance, access control, and data retention within Microsoft 365.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with PowerShell automation.
- Familiarity with identity federation and business continuity planning.

- Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert
