Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer (Server Administration)


Client: State of Oregon

Location: Tri County, Oregon

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Job Description:
Manage a Windows and Linux Server Environment running on VMWare, UCS Blade servers, and Netapp Storage. Ensure reliable and resilient service. A team-oriented mindset is highly desirable; provides support and direction to other members of the server team. Knowledge of Azure, AWS, Active Directory, Single Sign-on, and Dell Servers is also desirable. This position optimizes server design through the review and assessment of user needs escalating as needed, evaluating vendor products, and making recommendations for selection. Other duties will include monitoring and responding to system problems in our data centers, including but not limited to resolving system outages and degradations, by working with internal and external technical staff and engaging with vendor support, as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage servers and platforms such as Active Directory, Exchange, Virtualization, Automation, Terminal Services, real-time system monitoring, and agency backup systems.
  • Ensure stable performance for the Windows and Linux environment through performance monitoring and tuning. Design, deploy, oversee, and maintain upgrades of server-related hardware and network embedded systems.
  • Manage Microsoft Windows and Linux server-related hardware and software budgeting with an emphasis on maintaining reliable and resilient service while maximizing value.
  • Oversee complex projects, including developing formal project plans, scope, timeline, costs, and implementation.
  • Perform configuration, administration and maintenance of Microsoft Exchange and VMware Virtualization.
  • Perform troubleshooting of network and server problems. Evaluate alternative solutions as technology evolves. High-level involvement with the management of data integrity, network security, server storage, and backup systems.
  • Support of NAS, SAN, and DAS storage and volume management.
  • Manage global AD environments (ADDS, ADFS, DNS, etc.).
