Title: SQL Database Administrator - Local to Texas
Location: Austin, TX (Remote/ Telework)
Duration: 6 18 Months Contract
Description:
As a Database Administrator, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining the databases that support our child support systems. Your expertise will contribute to ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our database environment.
Key Responsibilities may include:
- Database Management: Administer, monitor, and maintain the child support databases, including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
- Data Security: Implement and enforce data security measures to protect sensitive child support information, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
- Database Optimization: Analyze database performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimizations to enhance system efficiency and responsiveness.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and ensure system availability.
- Data Integration: Collaborate with application developers and other IT teams to facilitate seamless integration of data across systems and ensure data integrity and consistency.
- Database Upgrades and Patching: Plan and execute database upgrades, apply patches and updates in accordance with best practices and change management procedures.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, changes, and procedures. Generate reports on database performance, capacity, and utilization as needed.
- Collaboration and Support: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and project managers, to support system enhancements, migrations, and other initiatives.
- Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in database technologies and actively seek professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
- A proven track record of success in understanding and executing the precepts of database administration, preferably in a large-scale enterprise environment.
- Expertise in system modernization, legacy database use, application rationalization, and/or digital transformation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software development lifecycles, and best practices in project management methodologies.
- Skillsets such as RDS, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and IBM DB2.
Preferred
- Experience with the Texas Child Support system, programs, projects, and methodologies
