Job Description:
The Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology is seeking a full time Data Scientist II. The Data Scientist II will work mainly on electronic health records data to help support research, implementing novel approaches, for ongoing studies/papers and pending applications.

The Data Scientist II will work on data management, analysis and employment of state-of-the-art machine learning (both supervised and unsupervised), including transformer models and deep reinforcement learning and writing manuscripts and new grant applications. The incumbent will possess the experience and expertise to conduct in-depth data mining, perform data visualization, define detailed data exploration and analytical protocols, have a strong statistical background and proficiency in the application of artificial intelligence and predictive modeling.

We focus on innovative medical AI research and clinical applications that can transform the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of critically and acutely ill patients. The position is expected to work under the supervision of supporting Faculty and in collaboration with the researchers at the University of Florida.

Essential Functions;

- Data Management
Develop plan for data processing and integration
Prepare integrated and processed AI-ready dataset for each project assigned

- Data Analysis
Identify appropriate methodological approaches and provide suggestions to improve research processes identifying opportunities for advanced analytics and data mining
Perform data analysis using appropriate statistical and machine learning methods as needed for projects
Develop and validate models/algorithms
Prepare tables, figures, and analysis results as needed for each project report, manuscript, or presentation

- Writing Documentation, Manuscripts, Grant Proposals, Reports
Write relevant parts of progress reports, manuscripts, or presentations including data and methods as well as interpretation of results
Develop datasheets, visualizations, and data dictionary for each dataset worked on
Prepare and maintain documentation of data management processes and source and final datasets
Develop analysis documentation and model cards and maintain an updated documentation

- Miscellaneous
Maintain up to date trainings, regulatory documents, etc.
Research best strategies for tasks
Assist in preparing presentations

Expected Salary:
$70,000 - $92,200 Annually

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor s Degree in data science, statistics, bioinformatics, analytics, or similar field and three years of experience; Master s Degree in data science, statistics, bioinformatics, analytics, or similar field and one year of experience; Doctoral Degree in data science, statistics, bioinformatics, analytics, or similar field.

Preferred:
Project management experience in an academic setting environment.
Extensive experience in data management and analysis using SAS is a plus.
Experience with healthcare and electronic health records data is a plus.
