Job Summary:
We are seeking a forward-thinking Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to help modernize and lead our test automation strategy. This role is pivotal in building and maintaining scalable, maintainable, and integrated test automation frameworks across both UI and API layers using tools like Playwright and TypeScript. The SDET will also contribute to integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines, while supporting manual testing needs for Agile feature teams.
This role enables feature teams to take ownership of both automated and manual testing efforts, driving faster and higher-quality releases.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Agile feature teams to define acceptance criteria and encourage test-first practices in refinement and design.
- Design and maintain automated test frameworks using Playwright (preferred), TypeScript, or other enterprise tools for UI/API coverage.
- Drive migration from legacy automation tools (e.g., Selenium + Java, Postman/Newman) to a unified, modern test architecture.
- Ensure tests are CI/CD integrated to deliver fast, reliable feedback for development cycles.
- Provide manual testing support, including test design, exploratory testing, and validation for areas not yet automated.
- Create automated API and end-to-end tests covering both functional and non-functional requirements.
- Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions focused on test strategy and scalability.
- Write and maintain SQL queries to support test data creation and data validation.
- Act as a quality engineering advocate, mentoring peers and driving QA process improvements.
- Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and defects in line with enterprise compliance needs (e.g., HIPAA, security).
Preferred Experience:
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright (TypeScript preferred), Cypress, or Puppeteer.
- Experience migrating from Selenium + Java or Postman to modern automation frameworks.
- Familiarity with CI/CD integration, test reporting, and quality dashboards.
- Proficiency with test case management tools such as qTest or TestRail.
- Solid understanding of DevOps quality metrics and testing strategies.
- Experience with REST/SOAP API testing and traceability best practices.
