Job Description:
Travel Installation Technician - ADP System

Location: Remote- 100% travel

Pay: $24-28/hr - travel costs paid by Apex

Work Type: On-site at airport cargo facilities

Schedule: Flexible hours - may include weekends

Team Size: 4 techs with a team lead

Length of Contract: 3 months

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Travel Installation Technician to install compact ADP systems at airport cargo depots across the U.S. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on installation experience who can follow structured procedures, work independently, and adapt to secure, fast-paced environments. Extensive travel and flexible scheduling are essential to this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, service, and troubleshoot ADP systems at airport cargo sites
  • Verify and inventory kit components before and after installations
  • Respond to emergency service calls within SLA timeframes
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and document all service activities
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and report any incidents
  • Maintain detailed service records and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Travel frequently (up to 100%) and work flexible hours, including weekends
Must-Have Qualifications
  • 4+ years in a field service role, ideally with x-ray or ADP equipment
  • Experience working with small cables, screws, and electronic components
  • Strong understanding of electronic/mechanical assemblies, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Proficiency with DVMs, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic tools
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn proprietary software (e.g., ServiceMax)
  • Physically able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform tasks like kneeling, squatting, and climbing
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work non-standard hours
  • Comfortable working in secure airport environments with escorted access
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electronics, engineering, or related technical field
  • Prior hands-on experience with x-ray producing systems
  • Experience with service management or diagnostic software tools
  • Military technical training highly valued
Training & Development
  • Standardized training on equipment installation and testing procedures
  • Ongoing upskilling opportunities in diagnostic tools and service platforms
