Java API Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in need of a Java API Engineer in Westlake, TX.

Responsibilities:
* Design and develop high-performance systems including APIs, event-driven architectures, and data feeds
* Build scalable and critical card technology systems supporting debit and credit card programs
* Enhance customer service capabilities across live channels and digital platforms (web and mobile)
* Optimize vendor partnership structures through robust engineering solutions
* Apply a strong product mindset using customer and market feedback to guide development
* Rapidly prototype and ship solutions based on real-life feedback
* Use CI/CD tools and practices to deploy changes efficiently and safely (e.g., A/B testing, blue-green deployments, feature toggles)
* Architect complex solutions for high-scale data processing platforms
* Mentor and guide team members on design and technology decisions
* Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to define and deliver next-gen ecosystems
* Evaluate emerging technologies for business value and feasibility
* Develop and consume API services using modern frameworks and open-source technologies
* Lead and participate in technical discussions with strong communication and collaboration skills

REQUIREMENTS:
* 8+ years in Java web services and API development
* Proven leadership and execution in agile, fast-paced environments
* Skilled in supporting mission-critical, customer-facing platforms
* Expertise in microservices, streaming, and message-oriented middleware
* Hands-on experience with AWS (EKS, S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda)
* Proficient in Java, J2EE, Spring MVC/Core, and JavaScript
* Strong API design knowledge (versioning, isolation, microservices)
* Familiar with API documentation tools (e.g., Swagger)
* Experienced in CI/CD and DevOps tools (Maven, Jenkins, Docker, etc.)
* Knowledge of scalable distributed systems and open-source tech
* Proficient in testing frameworks (Junit, Mockito, Cucumber)

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
