About the Role:

The Data Services team build and operate petabyte-scale data platforms across a myriad of clouds. Our work enables the highly-available transport, storage and access of data products delivering our award-winning endpoint protection solution. We operate a very large number of Cassandra, Kafka and OpenSearch clusters and develop the underlying tooling to automate and simplify administration and support activities. What You'll Do:

CrowdStrike is seeking an Engineering Manager for its Data Services - Software Engineering team. The software engineers form our control plane team accountable for the development of a unified platform to enable our capabilities across technologies which form the data plane. You will own driving the technical strategy and roadmap for building and maintaining the API which drives the data plane. This large-scale python solution provisions and operates clusters running Cassandra, Kafka and OpenSearch across hybrid clouds.

As the company grows, you will be instrumental in hiring, retaining and growing a team of world class engineers. You need to have hands-on experience leading people to deliver large and complex software applications. We are a remote-first company so you must bring your excellent verbal and written communication skills to bear when you are working with your engineering teams and cross-functional teams across the globe.

What You'll Need:
  • A demonstrated track record of building a strong core engineering team and engineering team management
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience in all phases of a software development lifecycle
  • 3+ years of hands-on management experience leading engineering teams
  • Deep level experience with Python development
  • A solid grounding in the technology of at least one cloud environment (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Broad grounding in all aspects of distributed systems development: understanding of distributed systems concepts and API development
  • Solid design and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated passion for engineering excellence, quality, security, and performance
  • Proven track record of building, operationalizing, and maintaining highly scalable systems


Bonus Points:
  • Experience with large scale datastores using technologies like Cassandra, OpenSearch and Kafka
  • MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience using python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask or Celery
  • Experience with containerization and serverless technologies
  • Experience with FedRamp
