Position is ONSITE at the location listed above (NO REMOTE WORK). Program will only accept LOCAL ONLY candidates for this position (Within a 50-mile radius).
Please do not submit candidates who are currently out of state and are planning to move to Texas. Candidates must already reside in Texas.

Skills:
8 Required Ability to research, gather, assemble, correlate and analyze system requirements; to devise solutions to problems; and to prepare concise reports and/or to analyze and solve complex and difficult problems and prioritize information and issues.
8 Required Ability to develop and present reports identifying gaps in functionality and operational effectiveness to executive stakeholders.

Description:
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs. Formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies. Experienced with business process reengineering and identifying new applications of technology to business problems to make business more effective. Familiar with industry standard business process mapping, and reengineering. Prepares solution options, risk identification, and financial analyses such as cost/benefit, ROI, buy/build, etc. Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) seeks highly qualified candidates to fill the Business Analyst position within the DSHS Environmental Epidemiology and Disease Registries Section. This position will perform senior level consultative services and technical assistance work in the area of DSHS analysis for program related activities. Work involves analyzing DSHS priority initiatives and special projects utilizing business analysis best practices in coordination with agency business and program units. Duties include: assessing, analyzing, researching, facilitating and documenting requirements, assuring the use of best practices and standards, assisting in the coordination and optimization of DSHS operations and program functions and providing recommendations.

This position is responsible for assisting with the facilitation and analysis across numerous related initiatives and leading special projects as assigned by agency leadership. These responsibilities include: developing business analysis tools; defining requirements; reporting progress on key projects to management; providing recommendations to agency leadership. This position will also work with staff to initiate, facilitate or participate in projects to maximize the success of multiple and diverse projects. Works under limited direction with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
