Job Details

We are seeking a GIS Specialist to develop software and/or implement the automation of workflow processes as part of the modernized NYS GIS content and hosting platform, scripting of new processes, and testing of web services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configuring and working with databases and developing functions and queries.
  • Developing, testing, and deploying GIS software and GIS datasets.
  • Developing scripts and/or object orient programming (python preferred).
  • Running GIS data extract, transform, load (ETL) workflows, manually or through scheduled automation, including triggers, actions, indicators, notifications, and logging.
  • Testing and troubleshooting technical issues with GIS database scripts, tools, and/or workflows.

Required Skills:

6-10 years:

  • Experience in configuring and working with databases, developing functions and queries.
  • Experience developing GIS software and GIS datasets then testing and deploying.
  • Experience in developing scripts and or object orient programming, python preferred.
  • Experience in running GIS data ETL workflows, manually or through schedule, including triggers, actions, indicators, notifications and logging.
  • Experience in testing and troubleshooting technical issues with GIS databases scripts, tools, and or workflows.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in geography, math, computer science, or related.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience.
  • An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.
