Job Description
The successful candidate will collect, populate, store, and maintain media and metadata within an ILS. Data to be catalogued is derived from NGA's collection of geospatial and textual products (maps, charts, CDs, DVDs, textual material, intelligence documents, handheld photography and digital datasets).
(U) Duties:
(U) Populate Integrated Library Systems (ILS) database using current NGA modified MARC 21, AACR2R, and RDA standards.
(U) Follow all established NGA cataloging guidelines.
(U} Conduct metadata reviews and verification of data integrity.
(U) Request and maintain access to security domain systems (SBU/NIPR, SecNet, NGANet).
(U) Provide weekly metrics tracking number of items cataloged.
(U) Transportation of physical media (up to 251bs.}
(U) Utilize a ladder in the scope of filing.
(U) Maintain proper file management in accordance with division standards.
(U) Conduct collection maintenance services; e.g. filing, bar codes, storage, in process mail, etc.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
BAE Systems Geospatial Catalogers are key participants in the geospatial mission of NGA, ensuring incoming materials and data is findable, retrieval, and accurate. Possessing the required skills is important to successfully growing and maintaining the NGA Library holdings.

Required
(U) Course work in Cartography or Geodesy; 1 year of demonstrated experience working with metadata and coordinate systems (MGRS, Lat/Long, UTMs); or 1 year of demonstrated work experience applying MARC 21, AACR2R, or RDA standards
(U) Proficient in computer-based data entry.
(U) Basic understanding of Military or Federal Mapping Standards. (Enumeration; Chronology; Marginalia).
(U) Ability to support movement and organization of physical media by carrying boxes (up to 25lbs) and climbing a ladder.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
(U) Knowledge of library clerical procedures and practices.
(U) Understanding of MARC 21, AACR2R, and RDA standards.
(U) Experience with customer service.
(U) Understanding of DoD or IC maps/products.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $53680 - $91300

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
