Industrial Automation Technician

Job Type: Contract
Location: Elgin IL

Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled Industrial Automation Technician to join our growing operations team.
This multifaceted role blends responsibilities of a service technician, maintenance specialist, and systems analyst.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with automation and robotic systems, exceptional troubleshooting skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining complex equipment in a high-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on computer-controlled machinery and robotic systems in industrial and commercial settings.
Respond promptly to equipment failures and escalate unresolved issues to engineering and management teams.
Conduct scheduled maintenance in line with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) protocols.
Troubleshoot control systems using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Install, configure, and commission automation systems, including robotic hardware and production line upgrades.
Support and modify automation programming in collaboration with engineering.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions based on maintenance data and system feedback.
Assist with process improvements and participate in cross-functional engineering initiatives.
Support machine changeovers, fixture setup, and configuration adjustments to enhance production efficiency.
Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety (EHS) regulations and internal safety protocols.
Document maintenance activities, system updates, and technical reports accurately.
Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and engineering.

Qualifications:
Experience:
2-4 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, maintenance, or a related technician role.

Education:
Associate s Degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Bachelor s Degree preferred but not required.

Technical Skills:
Strong working knowledge of electronic and mechanical systems, automation software, and control components.
Proficient in reading electrical schematics and technical documentation.
Familiarity with PLCs, motion sensors, photoelectric sensors, pneumatics, and industrial robotics.
Comfortable working with advanced troubleshooting tools and diagnostic software.

Salary : 28Hr
