We are seeking a Full Stack Developer with strong backend expertise in Node.js and TypeScript, and working knowledge of React. You'll work alongside our technical lead to modernize a suite of legacy healthcare applications, replacing them incrementally with robust, secure, and scalable services. Key Responsibilities

Application Modernization (Strangler Pattern)

  • Support the migration of over 100 legacy applications to a modern architecture using Node.js (TypeScript) and React

  • Design and implement modular, scalable services that replace legacy components without system downtime

  • Collaborate with architects to define modernization roadmaps and maintain HIPAA compliance

Backend Development (60 70% Focus)

  • Build secure, high-performance APIs and microservices using Node.js and TypeScript

  • Integrate with healthcare systems such as EHR/EMR, pharmacy platforms, and third-party APIs

  • Utilize SQL databases, ORM tools, and follow microservices best practices

  • Preferred experience with NestJS (or Express.js, LoopBack.js, Sails.js)

  • Leverage Azure cloud services (e.g., Blob Storage) while ensuring HIPAA-compliant data handling

Frontend Development (React Nice to Have)

  • Contribute to UI modernization using React, ensuring WCAG compliance and user-centered design

  • Collaborate with designers to map complex workflows into intuitive interfaces

  • Implement state management (Redux or Context API) and optimize performance for high traffic

Collaboration & Compliance

  • Partner with QA to ensure regulatory compliance (HIPAA, HITRUST)

  • Work with DevOps on CI/CD pipeline automation using Azure DevOps

  • Document technical progress and support training and onboarding for teams transitioning to modern tools

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of Full Stack development experience, with a strong backend focus

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Node.js (TypeScript) and React

  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful API development

  • Proven experience with application modernization using the Strangler Pattern or similar strategies

  • Proficiency in SQL database integration with Node.js and use of ORMs

  • Experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Adherence to secure coding practices within healthcare environments

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with NestJS for backend architecture

  • Familiarity with Ruby on Rails or C# to support and refactor legacy systems

  • Knowledge of healthcare protocols such as FHIR, HL7, or prior authorization workflows

  • Exposure to Azure Healthcare APIs (e.g., Azure API for FHIR, Health Data Services)

  • Background in healthcare tech, life sciences, or regulated environments (HIPAA, GDPR)
