Our Challenge:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Application Support Engineer / DevOps SRE (Level 2) to join our production support team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of our critical applications and infrastructure in a fast-paced environment. This role requires expertise in application monitoring, incident management, and collaborative problem-solving, with a focus on leveraging tools such as AppDynamics, Dynatrace, and Splunk to maintain optimal system health.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $95K-$105K/year & benefits (see below).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Level 2 support for production systems, troubleshooting complex issues related to application performance, availability, and security.
  • Use monitoring and APM tools (AppDynamics, Dynatrace) to proactively identify performance bottlenecks and system anomalies.
  • Analyze logs and metrics using Splunk for root cause analysis and incident resolution.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and QA teams to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, providing 24/7 support as needed to ensure high system availability.
  • Implement and maintain operational runbooks, automation scripts, and monitoring dashboards.
  • Assist in deploying updates, patches, and configuration changes to production environments following best practices.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews, documenting findings and implementing preventive measures.
  • Continuously improve system reliability, scalability, and monitoring strategies.
  • Contribute to SRE best practices, including capacity planning, disaster recovery, and incident management processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years of proven experience in application support, DevOps, or SRE roles, preferably in financial services or enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of application performance monitoring tools: AppDynamics, Dynatrace.
  • Experience with log analysis using Splunk or similar SIEM tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Solid understanding of networking, operating systems (Linux/Windows), and database concepts.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple incidents effectively.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or Splunk certifications.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards.
