Senior Systems Engineering Manager

Boeing's Space Mission Systems (SMS) Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) Capability is seeking a Senior Systems Engineering Manager to be the SEIT Lead for the Prop S-A proprietary program in El Segundo, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the SEIT IPT chartered to perform systems engineering in support of the design, development, integration, validation and verification for the Prop S-A program. You will be a leader of a high-performance systems engineering team interacting with customers, suppliers, program management, integration and test engineers and senior technologists.

The ideal candidate will have a background in spacecraft development, integration and test as a systems engineering leader with cost, schedule and performance responsibilities. You will need to be an open and inclusive leader partnering with other Boeing business functional areas, engineering capabilities, and program leadership.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Leads the execution of the SEIT IPT across cost, schedule and performance using earned value management best practices.
  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Systems Engineering.
  • Develops and executes integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures, and guides the development of business and technical strategies, goals, and objectives.
  • Acquires resources for organizational activities, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees and first-level managers.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years of experience leading or managing an engineering project or team
  • Product development and systems engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 10+ years of experience leading or managing an engineering project or team
  • Experience across the entire lifecycle of spacecraft system development
  • Experience as an earned value Cost Account Manager
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners
  • Previous management experience
  • Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust
  • Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes
  • Experience in leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams
  • Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance.
  • Experience leveling-up existing team by hiring high performance talent, growing leaders and helping underperforming members
  • Experience gaining the trust of a team and provide guidance for their careers
