What You'll Do

The Information System Engineer designs, implements, maintains, and optimizes secure, scalable, and high-performance organizational information systems. This role covers enterprise apps, data platforms, networked systems, security frameworks, and cloud services. The engineer independently evaluates, architects, documents, and supports complex system environments across the technology stack, while leading and collaborating with Engineers, Administrators, and technical teams.

Responsibilities

System Engineering and Operations

  • Deliver and support end-to-end system solutions aligned with strategic business goals.

  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and secure applications, data platforms, and on-premises/cloud systems.

  • Lead upgrades, patching cycles, and integration of enterprise solutions.

  • Implement best practices for system performance, security, and availability.

  • Evaluate and deploy emerging technologies to improve operations or solve business problems.

  • System Monitoring, Logging, and Performance Analysis.

Process and Standards Improvement

  • Document architecture diagrams, system configurations, and operating procedures.

  • Support internal audits, security assessments, and security remediation tasks.

  • Recommend and implement automation and efficiency improvements.

  • Research industry trends and evaluate impact on internal IT strategy.

Team and Project Leadership
  • Provide mentorship to system administrators and engineers.

  • Lead or participate in enterprise-level projects across business units.

  • Ensure transparent communication with stakeholders and leadership.

  • Develop detailed support documentation and standard runbooks.

  • Develop knowledge base articles and training for Tier 1 staff.

Security and Compliance

  • Implement and maintain security configurations for supported environments in alignment with NIST, HIPAA, and internal security policies.

  • Conduct regular system audits and vulnerability scans on supported environments.

On-Call and Escalation Support

  • Provide escalation support and resolve complex incidents.

  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for infrastructure support.

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes for recurring issues.

Requirements
  • Associate degree in IT or related field (or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).

  • 6 years of relevant work experience in enterprise IT systems or application engineering

  • Proficiency in system architecture, design, and implementation

  • Familiarity with scripting and automation tools is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of storage, virtualization, and backup systems

  • Demonstrated experience delivering secure and scalable information systems

  • Successful project leadership and technical mentoring

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise application delivery.

Preferred Requirements

  • Microsoft certifications (e.g. MCSA)

  • CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent

  • ITIL Foundation certification

  • VMware or Citrix certifications

  • Cloud vendor certifications
