Technical Writer-SOP

Location:
Norton, MA

Position type: Long Term contract

Pay: $40-$55/HR (depending on experience)

We're looking for an experienced Manufacturing Technical Procedure Writer to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for drafting, revising, and maintaining SOPs, batch records, and technical documentation that meet GMP and global regulatory standards. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance in all documents used on the manufacturing floor.

This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented technical writer with a background in pharma or biotech manufacturing and a passion for simplifying complex processes.

Your Responsibilities:


  • Develop, edit, and maintain SOPs, batch records, work instructions, and other GMP-compliant technical documentation.

  • Partner with SMEs across manufacturing, quality, engineering, and validation to ensure accuracy and usability.

  • Ensure all documentation aligns with FDA, EMA, and internal quality standards (e.g., 21 CFR Part 211, ICH Q7).

  • Translate complex manufacturing procedures into clear, user-friendly instructions to support production efficiency.

  • Maintain document version control using EDMS tools (e.g., Veeva, Master Control, Documentum).

  • Contribute to audit readiness by keeping documentation up to date and inspection-ready.

  • Support training efforts by creating materials aligned with SOPs and operational needs.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for improving documentation practices and workflow.

  • Occasionally be in the manufacturing cleanroom or production


Qualifications:


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5-7 years technical writing experience for Sr. level

  • 2-4 years technical writing experience for Jr. Level

  • 2+ years of technical writing experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with GMP and regulatory requirements is highly preferred
