The Investment Management Information Services department is a horizontal within the broader Investment Management division of Morgan Stanley. The department focuses on providing cutting edge data and information management solutions, including strategic insights Clients, Portfolio Managers, and other functional groups within the firm. The MSIM IT group delivers integrated enterprise data domains and seamless information flows to present information as a strategic asset.
Within MSIM IT, Data Strategy team have a global delivery footprint that comprises of cutting-edge data management platforms supporting Front Office application groups, Business Analytics, Information Architecture and Data Governance. The team consists of highly innovative and talented Enterprise Information Solution Architects, Developers, and Analysts. The teams are collectively responsible for ensuring the quality of data that is presented to the teams, the development of common, reusable semantic layer components, and ensuring that the governing frameworks and architecture guidelines are being followed and measured.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $170,000 and $253,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

What you'll do in the role:
- Work on Data-Warehouse and Business Intelligence Platform for Investment Management.
- Work on Integrating Meta Data Management and Data Governance platforms.
- Data lineage and Firm Data Catalog integration
- Data Sourcing and Data Pipelines implementation
- Data on Cloud Enablement
- Engineering support of Data Processing
- Maintain high standard of quality and adhere to best coding practices.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Strong foundation for compute architecture, parallel processing, data architecture and data engineering
- 7+ yrs. of Data Warehouse Architecture and Development
- C# development
- Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix tools and scripting (Python and data frame frameworks, Java, ksh/bash).
- Strong proficiency with integrating ETL tools with database load utilities.
- Cloud Data Lake/Data warehouse technology and tools
- Strong proficiency in writing SQL and procedures.
- Good understanding of SQL performance tuning.
- Understanding of the SDLC, good practices and experience with different development and change management tools.
- Experience working with any RDBMS and integration with application.
- Bachelors or advanced degree in an analytical or scientific field such as mathematics, computer science etc.
Skills desired
- Prior experience working in finance industry is preferred.
- Data processing using AI is a plus.
- Some reporting experience in Tableau and Microsoft Power BI.
