UI/UX Designer

Location: Austin, TX (Local candidates only)

Work Mode: Hybrid 2 days remote, 3 days onsite (Mon, Tue, Thu)
Interview Mode: In-Person (Onsite)

Systems Analyst 2 (UI/UX Designer) to support the Eligibility Systems Modernization initiative. This role is crucial in improving accessibility, usability, and responsiveness of complex government systems used by millions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead user research, journey mapping, and usability testing to optimize user experiences.

  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies that align with accessibility standards (WCAG) and branding.

  • Collaborate with Code for America and cross-functional teams to apply UI/UX best practices.

  • Design for complex business logic, AI/ML interfaces, and data visualization.

  • Facilitate discovery workshops, sprint planning, and feedback sessions.

  • Advocate for user-centered design principles and ensure compliance with accessibility guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4+ years designing UIs/UX for enterprise systems using Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch.

  • 4+ years applying UX design principles (hierarchy, contrast, alignment) for responsive & accessible web/mobile interfaces.

  • 4+ years creating wireframes & prototypes supporting agile development cycles.

  • Strong collaboration & communication skills with both technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Skills:

  • 5+ years designing visual diagrams and workflows.

  • Experience with AI/ML interface design and complex rule-based systems (eligibility, healthcare, or finance).

  • Bachelor s degree in Graphic Design, HCI, CS, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Ability to manage multiple design streams simultaneously.
