Job Details

We are seeking a highly skilled and security-conscious System Administrator to support mission-critical infrastructure within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Windows and a strong knowledge of Linux systems, Active Directory, and cybersecurity compliance, with a strong focus on operational excellence and secure system configuration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, including patching, performance tuning, and backup strategies.
  • Manage Active Directory infrastructure, including GPOs, user provisioning, and access controls.
  • Configure and troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, and other core network services.
  • Perform Linux system administration tasks including updates, scripting, and service management.
  • Utilize Tanium for endpoint management, compliance reporting, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Apply and maintain DISA STIGs across systems to ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct root cause analysis, and resolve technical issues across platforms.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to support incident response, system hardening, and system accreditation efforts.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and change management activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • DoD Security Clearance: Must have a fully adjudicated SECRET clearance at the time of contract start. Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • 5+ years of experience in system administration within the DoD or federal environment.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and experience with Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerShell scripting and familiarity with other scripting languages.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS.
  • Experience with Virtualization products (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).
  • Experience with Tanium or similar endpoint management tools.\
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server and/or other database applications.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs and DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with STIG Manager and Evaluate-STIG tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

CERTIFICATIONS

  • DoD 8140 Certification: CompTIA Security+ ce or equivalent required at time of contract start.
  • One or more of the following certifications is desired:
    • CompTIA Server+
    • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator.
    • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or other Linux Certification.
    • Tanium Certified Professional (TCP)
    • Other certifications may be considered.
