JOB DESCRIPTION

Apex is searching for a skilled professional with excellent consultative abilities to assume the position of a Senior FinOps Consultant. The Senior Lead FinOps Consultant will lead and execute financial operations (FinOps) engagements across enterprise cloud environments. This role is responsible for assessing current FinOps maturity, designing optimization strategies, and implementing scalable frameworks that align cloud consumption with business value. The consultant will work closely with client stakeholders in IT, finance, and operations to drive cost transparency, accountability, and efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead discovery and assessment phases to evaluate current FinOps practices, tooling (e.g., Apptio), and cloud spend visibility.
• Develop and deliver FinOps maturity roadmaps, including KPIs, governance models, and tooling recommendations.
• Analyze cloud consumption patterns and identify cost optimization opportunities across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Collaborate with cloud architects, finance directors, and CIOs to align FinOps strategies with enterprise goals.
• Facilitate stakeholder workshops and executive briefings to communicate findings and recommendations.
• Support implementation of FinOps tooling and dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Snowflake integrations)
• Provide training and enablement to client teams on FinOps principles and best practices.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 8+ years of experience in cloud financial management, cloud architecture, or IT cost optimization.
• Deep understanding of the FinOps Framework, including capabilities, lifecycle, and domains
• Hands-on experience with cloud cost management tools (e.g., Apptio, CloudHealth, native CSP tools).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working in client-facing consulting roles with cross-functional teams.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• FinOps Certified Professional or equivalent certification.
• Experience in regulated industries (e.g., financial services, healthcare).
• Familiarity with enterprise cloud governance, tagging strategies, and chargeback models.
• Prior experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and scripting (e.g., Python, SQL) is a plus.
