D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Sr. Project Engineer. The right candidate will function on a variety of engineering projects related to residential and site development projects. Must have proficient understanding of the latest regulatory design criteria to provide solid decision-making and assist in professional recommendations regarding infrastructure planning and design. Engineering and management decisions will be made with an understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve successful results and deadlines

D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Sr. Project Engineer. The right candidate will function on a variety of engineering projects related to residential and site development projects. Must have proficient understanding of the latest regulatory design criteria to provide solid decision-making and assist in professional recommendations regarding infrastructure planning and design. Engineering and management decisions will be made with an understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve successful results and deadlines
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform feasibility investigations for new project acquisitions including identifying project constraints, preparing cost estimates, and developing complete project schedules
- Facilitate comprehensive design plan production for regulatory agency and client approvals, including management of design team and agency permitting coordination
- Perform administration of construction phase services including site visits, bid documents, submittal reviews and pay applications
- Coordinate and execute engineering services for assigned projects to include engineering reports, design calculations for infrastructure and drainage systems, overall grading, and pavement design
- Determine methods and procedures on new assignments
- Coordinate and manage overall project design budgets and schedules for assigned projects through completion
- Analyze, interpret, and stay abreast of latest regulations and criteria for local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
- Implement innovative design concepts for efficiency and cost saving measures
- Liaise with project managers and management to secure resources necessary to move a project forward
- Maintain an understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve successful results and deadlines
- Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
- Ability to travel overnight
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited college or university; must be a registered and active P.E. in the state of employment
- Minimum 10+ years of engineering experience related to Land Development Projects
- (Residential experience preferred)
- Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft office platforms and Hydrology software (i.e., ICPR4/StormWise, HEC-RAS, FlowMaster, PondPack, WaterCAD)
- Possess strong interpersonal, written and verbal skills
- Ability to apply effective time management, provide analytical thinking, and be highly organized
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
- Proficiency with MS Office and email
- Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
- The noise level is generally moderate
