POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Director of Enterprise Architecture (EA) will lead the strategic design and execution of enterprise-wide technology architecture initiatives in support of the client s innovation, resiliency, and modernization efforts.
- This role ensures that architectural standards, policies, and frameworks support business agility, operational efficiency, and long-term innovation.
- The Director will oversee the EA team and collaborate across IT, Operations, Security, and Business Units to enable a Cloud-First, data-driven, and digitally resilient utility of the future.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Establish and lead a future-ready EA practice aligned with business and IT strategies.
- Govern architectural solutioning across digital, operational (OT), and cybersecurity domains.
- Chair the Architecture Working Group (AWG) and maintain the enterprise stage-gate architectural review process.
Innovation & Transformation
- Drive strategic initiatives such as Data Lakehouse integration, AI-based decision support, and OMS (Outage Management System) modernization.
- Champion microservices, containerization, and cloud-native architecture (CaaS).
- Formalize and projectize innovation across technology infrastructure and enterprise systems.
Technology Architecture & Road mapping
- Define and maintain reference architectures, implementation patterns, and technical standards.
- Lead development and adoption of modular, reusable architecture to support synergies and system separation.
- Advance architectural resiliency and recovery planning, including CAS/EBO and virtualized environments.
Digital & Data Enablement
- Support the development of AI-powered self-service portals, mobile apps, and chatbots to enhance digital customer engagement.
- Oversee architecture for data analytics platforms supporting demand forecasting and operational decision-making.
- Integrate LeanIX EA repository, performance scorecards, and digital risk scoring models.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Collaborate with Business, OT, Security, Infrastructure, and Project Services teams to deliver architecture for 40+ enterprise projects annually.
- Partner with executive leadership to align EA initiatives with organizational priorities and cost optimization (TCO, ROI, Tech Debt).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor s or master s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in enterprise architecture leadership.
- Strong knowledge of utility operations, regulatory compliance, and cyber-resiliency.
- Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), microservices, and AI/ML integration.
- Familiarity with EA tools such as LeanIX and EA frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience leading EA practices in energy, utilities, or regulated industries.
- Working knowledge of operational technology (OT) environments and system separation principles.
- Strong executive presence, communication skills, and ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
