Technical Director Data Modernization (Pharmacy & PBM)

Location: Louisville, KY or Nashville, TN preferred
Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a seasoned Technical Director with deep expertise in Pharmacy and Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) to lead strategic data modernization initiatives. This individual will drive the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable data solutions bridging complex business needs with cutting-edge technology.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical strategy and architecture for data platforms supporting Pharmacy and PBM operations.

  • Design and guide implementation of Data Lakes using Databricks and Snowflake.

  • Oversee development of modern ETL pipelines leveraging PySpark and other tools.

  • Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and engineering teams to align technology with business outcomes.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in PBM data and systems, influencing both tactical and strategic decisions.

  • Communicate effectively with C-level executives and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and clarity across initiatives.

  • Provide mentorship and leadership to technical teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and high-quality delivery.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong architectural leadership in data lake environments with Databricks and Snowflake.

  • Hands-on experience building large-scale ETL workflows using PySpark.

  • Deep domain knowledge of Pharmacy, PBM, and healthcare data ecosystems.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale data solutions.

  • Ability to lead, mentor, and scale technical teams in dynamic environments.

  • Local to or open to relocating to Louisville, KY or Nashville, TN (highly preferred).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.

  • Background in healthcare data transformation or modernization initiatives.

  • Familiarity with NCPDP, HIPAA, and other healthcare data standards.
