Job Description:
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and adapt a tailored cyber security framework for the K 12 sector based on NIST CSF v2 and CIS Controls v8, incorporating elements from COBIT and ISO standards.
  • Draft and document standards and guidance related to cyber security, privacy, and online safety specific to the education sector.
  • Provide expert implementation guidance to school boards for framework adoption.
  • Align cyber security stXXgies with governance, risk, compliance (GRC), and SecOps best practices.
  • Leverage modern technologies such as AI/ML for enhancing threat detection and response.
  • Deliver presentations, gather feedback, and engage with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Provide regular progress reports and updates on deliverables.
  • Participate in other related initiatives or board work as assigned.
  • Requirement/Must Have:
  • 10+ years experience mapping and integrating cyber security frameworks (NIST CSF v2, CIS Controls v8, COBIT, ISO/IEC 27001) into enterprise environments.
  • 10+ years experience aligning cyber security frameworks with risk management and governance models.
  • 10+ years experience in cyber security and online privacy policy development, preferably within public sector.
  • Strong understanding of privacy frameworks (NIST Privacy Framework v1.1, ISO/IEC 27701).
  • Working knowledge of cyber/online safety standards, capability maturity models (CMMI, CMMC), and IoT/OT security.
  • Strong familiarity with MFIPPA, and ideally the Education Act.
  • 10+ years delivering professional presentations to senior leadership.
  • 10+ years preparing security/privacy documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and consulting skills in the cyber security domain.
  • Qualification and Education:
  • Candidatedatory Certifications: CISSP and/or CISM
  • Preferred Certifications: CIPP, CISA, CASP+
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years in public sector environments.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g., Bill 194 / EDSTA).
