Job Details
Hybrid - In Taylor office Mon and Tue. WFH on other 3 days.
Experience with Power Systems and Python is needed.
Tie up data received from the power generation owners and from the transmission owners then create the model in such a way that connectivity and topology is good.
The primary job would be to analyze the data from generation and transmission, run power flow and contingency analysis such that the control room does not have any issues when the model is loaded for them to work well.
Provide support to internal team. Ex: Work with control room etc.
If there s an issue, correct the data and get it back into the model.
We use the GE system for Power Flow and Contingency Analysis

JOB SUMMARY
Provides backfill support for Network Model Maintenance Modeling on daily business. The position facilitates additional resources for the full-time employees to focus and provide support to the CIM 16 upgrade project.
JOB DUTIES
- Analyzes transmission network data including Transmission and Generation element parameters.
- Works closely with System Operations, System Operations Support, Market Operating Services Support, Client Services, System Planning and Metering.
- Works with EMS and Transmission Planning power flow, Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP), and other analysis software to provide accurate power system models and associated cases.
- Supports detailed model changes delivered by Network Operations Model Change Requests (NOMCRs) to maintain an accurate Network Operations Model, and other models contained within the modeling system.
- Coordinates and works with the NDSWG (Network Data Support Working Group) members on data exchange and transmission network model maintenance via the NOMCR process.
- Creates and utilizes data mining mechanisms and techniques for Protocol and Guide compliance driven reports and to validate the accuracy of the model.
- Reviews, drafts, and implements improvements to the modeling process and implements new technologies to the model.
- Provides training and evaluation of members of the Engineering Development Program (EDP).
- Manage updates and upgrades of the SGEM application to specify and implement desired new functionality.
- Reviews Contingencies, Special Protection Systems, Remedial Action Plans, Mitigation Action Plans, Outages, and other issues that possibly affect models.
- Reviews, drafts, and presents changes to the Protocols, Guides, procedures, training material for Engineer Development Program (EDP) and Market Participants (MPs), and other supporting documents associated to modeling.
- Help in developing tools or queries required to maintain data integrity.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or a combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge equivalent to a major in such fields.
EXPERIENCE
- Requires minimum 1 year experience in excess of degree requirements.
- Effective communicator.
- Familiarity in power systems analysis and modeling.
- Familiarity in database querying a must.
- Detail oriented and organized.
