Job Details

Amentum is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our component engineering group supporting our key Government customer. This exciting opportunity will support multiple projects across the Department of Defense (DoD) with system parts, planning, testing, and analysis. The Electrical Engineer will work alongside project leads to ensure program success, and mentor junior engineers.

The unique test site we support is perpetually in a state of planning, integration, and test execution. This fast-paced program requires initiative, teamwork, and the ability to effectively communicate across all organizational levels. The team is multi-organizational, and roles span from senior program managers to engineers, to on-site technicians, logistics, budget, and everything in-between. It is, therefore, critical for this role to be able to communicate complex ideas to a broad and occasionally non-technical audience in support of program priorities.

The environment demands attention to detail while never losing site of the big picture, in short, execution within the broader strategy.

Required Education and Experience:

Technical degree, BA/BS and 3 to 10+ years of related experience, or 15 years of relevant experience in an Engineering field are required.

Degree in an Electrical Engineering discipline is preferable.

Mentor junior engineers to accurately evaluate components based on their qualification and test data.

Review test data and reports prior to being provided to customers.

Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical reports.

Demonstrate the ability to audit designs.

Implementing the design configuration and ensuring, via controlled and authorized change, that the design configuration is declared and maintained.

Experienced with testing facility projects, change management, and engagement with field personnel.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

Component or Systems Engineering experience with a focus on quality and reliability standards

and methods of IEEE parts.

Knowledgeable of best design practices for IEEE parts.

Experience with military standards (MIL-STD), and various other industry standards in regards to the characteristics, performance, and survivability of component parts.

Ability to analyze the differences between the military standards, and the part performance data.

Ability to communicate ideas to customers, program office, colleagues, and contractors

Ability to write technical reports.

Proven communications and analytical skills with a sense of urgency and in a timely manner through work experience.

Experience with electronic component testing and characterization.

In an R&D testing environment, things often wrong, this role will need to identify issues, clarify the problems, communicate them, and work to develop solutions. This role requires strong judgement, effective communication skills, and an ability to respond to the unexpected.

Experience in DOD-related test programs is preferred.

    • The base salary range for this position is $170k to $200k. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and remote. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. For "remote" positions, the salary to be offered is geographic dependent.

Essential Functions for Position

Physical Requirements: May include lifting of weight up to forty (30) pounds as necessary.

Work Environment: Can involve inside or outside work depending on the task. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting). Outside work may include various environmental conditions including warm and cold climates. Needs to be able to work well with co-workers and all levels of management. No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions.

Equipment and Machines: Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work-related tools as required. Possess heavy and light equipment licenses, or the ability to obtain the necessary licenses.

Attendance: Normal hours are Monday - Thursday between 6:00am to 4:00pm during flex weeks, 6:00am to 3:00pm on non-flex weeks. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements. With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.

Other Essential Functions: Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management, and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required. Travel (up to 10%) to and from customer locations and test locations (government and vendor) may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when driving.
