Position Overview
We are seeking a Network Engineer to support the Ground Control Station (GCS) Integrated Project Team, focusing on network infrastructure design, implementation, and testing for mission-critical defense systems. This role involves coordinating with network contractors, designing and implementing network solutions for Systems Integration Laboratory (SIL) operations, and supporting network infrastructure across multiple operational sites. The ideal candidate will have hands-on network engineering experience with knowledge of defense network requirements, cybersecurity compliance, and mission system connectivity.

Responsibilities
Contractor Coordination & Technical Review
- Review network engineering diagrams and build plans for Sites 1-4 and the Systems Integration Lab (SIL), coordinating necessary changes with Elevated Technologies
- Guide and provide technical direction to contractors for Network Operation Center development
- Coordinate network engineering activities with contractors and ensure alignment with GCS IPT requirements
- Evaluate contractor network design proposals and implementation approaches for technical adequacy
- Facilitate resolution of network technical issues between contractors and government stakeholders
- Design network infrastructure to support SIL data communications and system connectivity including network topology design and bandwidth requirements analysis
- Develop switch and router configuration planning and cybersecurity architecture for network systems
- Plan integration with existing network infrastructure and facility network connections
- Define data flow pathways and protocols for SIL operations including data routing analysis and protocol specification
- Conduct latency requirements assessment and data storage architecture design
- Develop interface definitions for data exchange between system components and external networks
- Implement designed network infrastructure within the SIL facility including network equipment installation and cable routing/termination
- Configure switches, routers, and network equipment according to design specifications
- Conduct network testing and validation to ensure proper functionality and performance
- Integrate SIL network systems with facility infrastructure and external network connections
- Manage network equipment installation coordination and technical oversight
- Develop network-specific testing procedures for SIL network infrastructure validation
- Create network test cases, performance testing procedures, and cybersecurity testing protocols
- Implement data throughput verification methods and coordinate testing with network architecture requirements
- Manage network tests at the SIL to ensure successful network operations for Functional Systems Test (Akron) and Government Site Acceptance Test (Poland)
- Conduct network performance testing and troubleshooting to resolve connectivity and performance issues
- Develop Network Management Plans fS network operations and maintenance
- Create Interface Design Documents for Ground Control Station and SIL network systems
- Track network bandwidth limits and determine impact on ASRR (Airspace and Surface Radar Reconnaissance) functionality
- Maintain network documentation including network diagrams, configuration files, and operational procedures
- Monitor network performance and conduct capacity planning analysis
- Develop Authority to Operate (ATO) packages for submission to DoD Authorizing Officials to obtain permissions for mission network connections
- Ensure network designs meet DoD cybersecurity requirements and compliance standards
- Implement network security controls including firewalls, intrusion detection, and access controls
- Coordinate cybersecurity testing protocols and vulnerability assessments for network infrastructure
- Support network security patch management and compliance monitoring
- Provide ongoing maintenance and support for SIL network infrastructure including performance monitoring and troubleshooting
- Conduct network equipment lifecycle management and coordinate replacement planning
- Support network operations teams for continuous network availability and reliability
- Perform network repair and maintenance activities as required

Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field
- Minimum 4 years hands-on network engineering experience
- Experience with network design, implementation, and troubleshooting in enterprise or defense environments
- Proficiency in network infrastructure design including routing, switching, and network topology planning
- Hands-on experience with network equipment configuration (Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLAN, VPN) and data communication standards
- Experience with network testing tools and performance monitoring systems
- Understanding of bandwidth analysis, latency assessment, and network capacity planning
- Familiarity with network security principles and cybersecurity architecture
- Experience with cable routing, termination, and physical network infrastructure installation
- Knowledge of data center and laboratory network environments
- Understanding of network interface design and system connectivity requirements
- Familiarity with network documentation standards and configuration management
- Experience with network troubleshooting methodologies and problem resolution
- Strong technical communication skills for coordinating with contractors, vendors, and engineering teams
- Ability to review and evaluate technical designs and provide constructive feedback
- Experience working in team environments and coordinating technical activities across multiple stakeholders
- Documentation skills for technical reports, network plans, and interface specifications
- Active Secret clearance required
- 10-15% travel to support network installations, testing, and site coordination activities
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional network certifications (CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, Network+)
- Experience with defense network requirements and military communication systems
- Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity standards and ATO processes
- Familiarity with Systems Integration Laboratory (SIL) environments
- Experience with mission system network integration and real-time data communications
- Background in network infrastructure for ISR or surveillance systems
- Knowledge of tactical data networks and secure communications protocols
- Ability to work in hands-on technical environments including laboratory and facility settings
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex network integration challenges
- Ability to manage multiple network projects and coordinate competing priorities
- Comfort working with both internal teams and external contractors
