Opportunity Overview:

iSphere is seeking an experienced Configuration Manager for a short-term, high-impact contract based in Austin, TX. This role is critical to overseeing and maintaining the Configuration Management (CM) process within the IT Service Management (ITSM) framework. The ideal candidate brings a blend of strong ITIL expertise, technical CMDB tool experience (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Helix), and sharp analytical skills to manage, audit, and improve configuration items across a complex enterprise IT environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end configuration management process, including CI identification, tracking, updates, and audits

  • Develop and maintain configuration management plans, policies, and best practices based on ITIL principles

  • Collaborate with operations, infrastructure, application, and ITSM teams to ensure alignment and consistency in CM practices

  • Perform regular configuration audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with agency standards

  • Ensure all Configuration Items (CIs) are properly identified, recorded, and maintained within the CMDB

  • Support verification and auditing of configuration status, confirming consistency with system specs and requirements

  • Recommend improvements to CM processes and support adoption across IT teams

  • Provide reporting and documentation for senior leadership and compliance teams

  • Utilize tools such as BMC Helix, ServiceNow, or Atlassian platforms to manage CMDB operations and data integrity

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Years Required/Preferred Experience
5 Required Advanced knowledge of ITIL configuration management principles and experience developing CM policies
5 Required Strong problem-solving skills and high attention to detail
5 Required Experience supporting and maintaining CMDB platforms (e.g., BMC Helix, ServiceNow, Atlassian)
4 Required Experience performing configuration audits for completeness and compliance
4 Required Proven track record verifying configuration statuses and CI alignment with technical requirements
4 Required 3-5 years in a Configuration Manager or similar role in IT Service Management (ITSM)
- Required ITIL 4 Foundation certification

Preferred Traits:

  • Strong understanding of business process mapping, reengineering, and cost/benefit analysis

  • Ability to document and articulate technical needs, workflows, and proposed changes clearly

  • Experience working in public sector or state government environments is a plus

  • Background in supporting enterprise architecture, infrastructure, and operational integration
