Job Description:
Position Overview
The Master Data Analyst is responsible for ensuring the integrity, quality, and governance of critical master data across enterprise systems. This role supports the Digital Thread initiative by establishing and maintaining high-quality, validated master data that enables data-driven insights and strategic decision-making across all business units.
Key Responsibilities
Data Quality & Governance:
- Implement and monitor master data quality standards across SAP, Maximo, CIS, and other enterprise systems
- Develop data validation rules and quality metrics to ensure consistency and accuracy
- Collaborate with data stewards to resolve data quality issues and establish remediation processes
- Support compliance requirements and regulatory reporting through accurate master data management
Master Data Management
- Design and maintain master data models for customers, assets, locations, vendors, and materials
- Establish data lineage and metadata documentation for critical business entities
- Coordinate master data synchronization across disparate systems and platforms
- Support integration efforts for new systems and data sources
Analysis & Reporting
- Perform root cause analysis on data quality issues and recommend solutions
- Create dashboards, reports, and presentation decks to monitor and report out master data health and usage patterns
- Support business users with master data inquiries and research requests
- Provide data profiling and impact analysis for system changes
Collaboration & Support
- Partner with IT teams and business stakeholders on data integration and ETL processes
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand master data requirements
- Support training and documentation for master data processes and standards
- Participate in cross-functional projects requiring master data expertise
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Data Management, Information Systems, or related field
- 3+ years experience in master data management
- Proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and data quality tools
- Experience with enterprise systems (SAP, Maximo preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of data governance principles and best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in utility or energy industry
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS)
- Knowledge and experiences with metadata management tools
- Understanding of data privacy and security requirements
This role is critical to data strategy and supports multiple initiatives including the Digital Thread, knowledge graph projects, and enterprise-wide analytics capabilities.
