Security Engineer Operational Technology
Summary
The OT Security Engineer plays a key role in safeguarding manufacturing systems by designing, implementing, and monitoring cybersecurity protections across plant environments. This role will ensure security standards, risk management, and incident response procedures are in place to protect critical OT and ICS infrastructures.
Responsibilities

  • Support the design, enforcement, and monitoring of cybersecurity controls across manufacturing systems including network segmentation, firewalls, and intrusion detection.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and IT teams to assess OT architecture and integrate security measures across facilities.
  • Conduct risk assessments of OT systems using frameworks including NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and ISA/IEC 62443, and then recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain security documentation, dashboards, and reports that clearly communicate OT risk posture to stakeholders.
  • Oversee vulnerability testing, remediation programs, and continuous monitoring of OT networks for threats.
  • Develop and execute incident response plans for OT-related security breaches including detection, response, and recovery.
  • Lead training and awareness efforts to promote cybersecurity best practices and policy compliance across manufacturing teams.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with OT cybersecurity standards, regulations, and industry frameworks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field (equivalent work experience considered).
  • 3+ years of experience in Information Security, IT, or Industrial Control Systems Engineering.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, industrial networks, and ICS/OT security principles.
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, Active Directory, Cloud security (AWS/Azure), and network monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks including NIST 800-82 and ISA/IEC 62443.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex security concepts across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional environments and prioritize tasks in high-pressure situations.
