Job Description:
The Database Administrator will be responsible for a range of duties related to database management and optimization. Key tasks include:
Selecting and entering utility program codes to monitor database performance, such as analyzing record distribution and available memory.
Directing programmers and analysts to modify the database management system as needed.
Modifying database programs to enhance processing efficiency (performance tuning).
Supporting planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems, ensuring new applications align with database structure and standards.
Coordinating data usage to ensure integrity and reduce redundancy, loading and reorganizing databases as needed.
Performing data modeling, both logical and physical, designing relational models, and generating physical models from logical designs.
Executing security and recovery procedures, implementing search strategies, and managing storage requirements.
Maintaining the data dictionary and establishing usage standards.
Monitoring performance and recommending efficiency improvements.
Creating test environments, including necessary libraries and procedures for applications.
Managing backup and recovery operations according to established guidelines.
Supporting security enhancements and monitoring disaster recovery procedures.
Assisting in database software installation and configuration, analyzing and implementing new databases, and performing benchmarking and threshold testing.
Participating in selecting appropriate database management software.
Applying knowledge of computer systems analysis, programming, operations, and procedures, including data flowcharting, database theory, and technologies.
Ensuring compliance with EIR Accessibility standards in user interfaces and resolving related issues.
Supporting Data Warehouse team requests and participating in on-call support for production systems.
Creating new logical and physical data models as needed.
Working extensively with Oracle databases, including performance optimization, monitoring, and resolving bottlenecks.
Utilizing Oracle Stored Procedures and Functions.
Generating schema statistics across environments (Production, Development, UAT) and performing necessary scripting for database tables.
Minimum Requirements:
6 years of experience in Oracle database design, analysis, and performance tuning.
6 years of experience with Oracle database structures, data analysis, and performance tuning.
6 years of experience designing enterprise applications and/or services.
6 years of experience in creating technical and functional design documentation.
6 years of experience with software development life cycle using Agile methodology (e.g., Scrum).
6 years of experience with multi-tier system/application development (e.g., SOA, Microservices, 3-Tier applications).
Preferred Qualifications:
4 years of experience with data warehouse applications and/or database reporting features.
1 year of experience with Jira.
Oracle Certification is preferred.
