Job Description:
  • Lead the development of iSeries code that supports Retail applications.
  • Lead Architectural Design Discussions and drives engineering best practices to deliver higher quality and scalable solutions.
  • Develops high quality, efficient, and fault tolerant software.
  • Participates in the development and documentation of department standards and best practices, and mentors junior engineers.
  • Adheres to divisional standards for any code development and deployment activities.
  • Identifies deficiencies within a product/applications code base and identifies opportunities to improve overall code quality.
  • Conducts peer code reviews for the software changes made by other engineers within a team.
  • Collaborates with team members (e.g., Systems Architects, Systems Analysts) to define project specifications and release documentation for all phases of the product development cycle from product definition to design, through implementation.
  • Analyzes and develops iSeries code that supports Enterprise retail and supply chain applications.
  • Creates functional specifications for applications supported using our standard practices, processes, and procedures.
  • Performs code reviews, unit testing; coordinates with team members on development and QA tasks.
  • Adheres to IT division development standards and deployment processes and procedures.
  • Collaborates with Product Owner, business area, team members, and QA to ensure requirements are clearly defined, understood, and documented.
  • Participates in development estimation, deployment, and release planning to ensure delivery of solutions.
  • Delivers artifacts and application solutions on agreed upon delivery dates.
  • Owns 2nd level support resolution of daily incident tickets; creation of KB articles for 1st level support.
  • Continues personal growth in areas of technology, business knowledge, and Costco policies.
  • Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.
Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications Required:
  • 5 years functional and technical design experience.
  • 7+ years programming experience with RPGLE, SQL, and CL on iSeries (AS/400).
  • Experience with iSeries DB2/400, Turnover, X Analysis
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining real-time large-scale business applications.
  • Ability to collaborate with other technical experts and develop solution and functional design documents to support the development of final solutions.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple requests.
  • Able to support off-hours work as required, including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
Recommended:
  • Familiarity with SAP Master Data and MDG Application capabilities and integration.
  • Familiarity with integration tools such as IBM Websphere Broker, IBM ACS
  • Good understanding of Agile development practices and methodologies.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.
  • Successful internal candidates will have spent one year or more on their current team.
  • Understanding of API development, with an emphasis on security and performance
