RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in need of a Remote Senior IBMi Database Administrator (DBA).
Responsibilities:
* Meet regularly with leadership and IT teams to discuss database system improvements
* Deploy and maintain database infrastructure and objects
* Ensure database security, integrity, and availability
* Manage database performance and capacity
* Implement database design enhancements
* Collaborate with Software Development and server administrators for index maintenance, table reorganizations, and data purging
* Establish procedures for backup/recovery and disaster recovery
* Stay current with industry trends and standards
* Provide user support using incident and problem management tools
* Install, configure, and maintain IBM i-based database artifacts (DB2 for i) for optimal performance
* Collaborate on Backup/Recovery and HA/DR solutions for IBM i-based applications
* Monitor and optimize IBM i database systems, including query optimization and indexing
* Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure regulatory compliance
* Plan and evaluate the impact of OS upgrades and patches on IBM i
* Diagnose and resolve database-related issues
* Perform regular maintenance tasks such as reorganization and index rebuilds
* Work with developers and IT teams to design and optimize database schemas and queries
* Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations and procedures
* Conduct capacity planning and provide storage recommendations
* Coordinate with IT support to resolve critical database issues
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
* IBM Certified Database Administrator
* 10+ years of IT experience
* Experience with MySQL, Oracle, Snowflake, SQL Server
* Familiar with IBM Power Systems hardware, PHP, Cloud Computing, Node.js, IBM MDM tools, and stateless CGI development
* Strong understanding of DB2 for i SQL, relational database management, and IBM i OS
* Expertise in database performance tuning, backup, recovery, and security
* Experience with IBM i system hardware, memory, storage configurations, and job management
* Proficient in developing with ILE RPG, ILE CL, DB2 SQL/PL, Java
* Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills
* Experience in performance tuning, capacity planning, and large-scale enterprise applications
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and collaborative cloud-based programs
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
